White:

Another colour that has enjoyed a renaissance is the white. For too long the white Orpington has been overlooked by breeders both in Bantam & Large size, with the advent of the internet I think it has come to more peoples attention, which is a good thing as long as the work to improve size & type is kept up. I have two lines: one from G. Hodge, who has worked hard to improve the standard - and is producing very fertile strong eggs & chicks, and one is my own new line with input from a top Australian breeder. I have also a new hen from Fin at Mangrove, so 2012 will be busy. I do not intend to show mine until the shape is more like the blacks, some other UK breeders have produced whites that show it is possible, so one can only try - but if you want to try the colour contact Andrew at The Orpington Club for more info. Do not worry about sunlight with white orpington bantams, mine stay out all year round and do not show any tendency to go yellow. more pics to follow.
