Blue was the first proper colour I bred, on a visit to Yorkshire I was lucky enough to get a
splash hen, and on a later visit a blue from Will Burdett OBE. They have been crossed with blacks & blue over the last couple of years, and now I also have a splash lad from the great man to throw in the mix as blues are a difficult mix to get right - even blue - dark head & eye - good lacing. In 2011 my own blue hens got a 1st and 2nd in the Hen class at the National, the hen that got a 2nd also got cards at the National & Federation shows 2010 so it goes to show a good Orpington hen will keep on getting the results for you year after year, I have also had a 1st in the Northampton & District club show 2010. I hope to gain more success with this wonderful colour, and for 2012 to show cock birds as well as hens. top 2 pics are of my W. Burdett hens, then my 2011 growers, last pic shows my hen I got a 1st with at Northampton.
